During the AWS conference in Las Vegas, MongoDB needed more than a single event space. They needed one offsite home base that could run a full schedule for three days straight: corporate meetings in the morning, an executive VIP lounge in the afternoon, and receptions and private dinners at night.
The challenge was variety. The same guests would come back day after day, so the space couldn’t feel static or repetitive. It had to shift between time blocks and rooms without missing a beat.
aVenue Event Group, through aVenue Innovative Planning and aVenue Hospitality, produced the program at Sugarcane Raw Bar Grill at The Venetian Resort. MongoDB brought us back the following year.
Client Information
ONE VENUE, EVERY ZONE. We used all of Sugarcane’s nearly 6,400 sq ft. By day, the Havana Private Room and Main Dining Room became meeting rooms with built-in AV, drop-down screens and presentation support. The lounge and bar areas became an exclusive VIP lounge for executive networking and client meetings. By night, the venue opened up for full and partial-venue receptions with custom bar packages, tray-passed bites and food stations, plus intimate multi-course private dinners.
BRANDED, DAY TO NIGHT. Sugarcane’s built-in digital screens and monitors carried MongoDB branding throughout the space, aligned to the brand guidelines. Custom DJ, audio and lighting changes took the room from a focused daytime setting to a high-energy evening scene.
TURNKEY, ALL THREE DAYS. We handled it end to end: venue logistics, floor plan changes between day and night sessions, catering workflows, staffing and vendors.

MongoDB and aVenue turned Sugarcane into a polished, turnkey offsite hub near the convention floor, a place that kept MongoDB’s presence felt throughout the AWS conference. Every room was put to work, guests stayed engaged across every type of program, and the results brought MongoDB back for a second consecutive year.
