The Goodness Gala Announces NextStep Orlando as the 2025 Recipient

Orlando, FL – 2/3/2025 – The Goodness Gala is excited to announce that NextStep Orlando has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Goodness Gala, a premier Gala Giveaway valued at $100,000 in in-kind donations.

NextStep Orlando is dedicated to helping individuals with spinal cord injuries regain mobility and independence through cutting-edge rehabilitation programs. Their unwavering commitment to empowering their clients and transforming lives made them an outstanding choice for this year’s gala.

“This was an incredibly difficult decision, as all three finalists—Eight Waves, NextStep Orlando, and Dave’s House—are doing life-changing work in our community,” said Sean Hughes, Executive Director of The Goodness Gala. “The presentations from each organization were deeply moving, and the board was truly inspired by their impact. Ultimately, NextStep Orlando was selected by a very close margin, and we are beyond excited to partner with them to create an unforgettable fundraising event that will help further their mission.”

The Selection Process

The Goodness Gala received an overwhelming response in its inaugural year, with numerous applications from non-profits across Central Florida. Finalists were chosen based on a voting system in which each stakeholder and sponsor of The Goodness Gala was given five votes to nominate their top choices. The three organizations that received the most votes—Eight Waves, NextStep Orlando, and Dave’s House—advanced to the finalist stage, where they each presented their mission and impact to the board. The final selection was determined by a private vote by the Board of Directors.

“We want to extend our deepest gratitude to every organization that applied,” said Hughes. “The work being done in our community is nothing short of incredible, and we strongly encourage all applicants to apply again next year. Since winning organizations must wait five years before reapplying, there will be plenty of opportunities for us to support these amazing non-profits in future galas.”

What’s Next?

Planning for the 2025 Goodness Gala is already underway, with NextStep Orlando working alongside The Goodness Gala team and its generous sponsors to create a high-impact event. The gala, scheduled for September 20, 2025, will be a premier fundraising experience with 100% of proceeds directly benefiting NextStep Orlando.
